Neighborhood Outreach & Support Program

Funded by the Susan G. Komen Foundation-Central & South Jersey Affiliate

and Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund

We are a community-based breast cancer education program providing outreach services to increase awareness, knowledge, screening, and early detection behaviors in our medically underserved community in Camden County in an effort to reduce the incidences and number of deaths from breast cancer.

Our Neighborhood Outreach and Support Program which is funded by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund, conducts breast cancer education workshops in churches and community centers to educate women about early detection and give them the resources that they need to make better decisions about their health. Our outreach facilitators include breast cancer survivors who speak about their experiences and testify that a diagnosis of breast cancer is not a death sentence. We also travel to locations throughout Camden County to participate in health fair events in an effort to reach our low-income, medically underserved population.

  • NEW SERVICE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008

As a result of a recent grant award by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Fund, we are now able to offer transportation to the CEED screening facilities to those women who have been scheduled for a mammogram and who do not have transportation.   We are excited about this additional component of our Neighborhood Outreach & Support Program, as we continue to try to eliminate some of the barriers that are keeping our women from having access to the medical care they are entitled to.

REACH OUT FOR LIFE, somebody needs you

Reach Out for Life:  Somebody Needs You" is a community-based initiative, in partnership with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, designed to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage breast self-examination, and provide free screenings to African-American women over age 40 in central and southern New Jersey.

To find out more about the Reach Out for Life program, just dial 2-1-1 from any phone.  You will be connected with a specially trained operator who will ask a few simple questions, then connect you with a care manager who will work with you to identify a local CEED facility, make an appointment for a mammogram, and serve as a guide for any necessary follow-up.

CALL 2-1-1 TODAY - It may just save your life.

Be PROACTIVE when it comes to your health.
